The deeper we aim in Space, the greater are the challenges and the dangers we will face • “The Future in Space”, the new digital show of the Eugenides Planetarium, after a short introduction of the massive effort to “conquer” the Moon, attempts to answer certain intriguing questions related to the future of Space exploration • Will we ever construct bases on the Moon and Mars? • How close is the first manned mission to the red planet? • Will we ever escape the confines of our Solar system, or will interstellar travel remain in the realm of science fiction forever?

James, a traveling penguin from the South Pole, and Vladimir, a funny bear from the North Pole, meet on the Arctic Sea ice • They become friends, observe the stars together, wondering why the night is so long at the poles of the Earth • As novice astronomers, they are trying to solve this mystery and their scientific adventures lead them to build an observatory and then an improvised spaceship • During a trip around the Earth, extended to Mars and Saturn, they get their answer and discover that the planets have similarities but also differences • Polaris is a playful story combining knowledge and astonishing graphic effects • Addressing astronomical concepts, the show also introduces key elements of the scientific method!

The Eugenides Planetarium digital fulldome show: Space Storms and the Polar Aurora invites you on a fascinating journey to witness the most impressive and violent weather phenomena in the Solar system • From the winds on Neptune, blowing at 2,000 km/h, to the mighty hurricane on Jupiter that could swallow at least two planets the size of Earth, this show will remind us that we are indeed lucky to live on Earth! • Solar storms, on the other hand, can short-circuit our telecommunication satellites and cause widespread electrical power blackouts • At the same time, however, interacting with Earth’s magnetic field, they help create perhaps the most visually stunning natural phenomenon: the Polar Aurora
